What To Expect
Tesla is looking for highly motivated Engineering Technicians to lead and support cell prototype builds, cell validation and test, equipment, and process setup and/or fabrication, root cause analysis, critical Li-ion cell component analysis, and data analysis in both manufacturing and lab environments for Advanced Cell Development.
What You'll Do
Support all aspects of activities in San Diego area, but with a primary focus on cell winding process and operationsFully understand the operation and processes related to cell JR winding machine, production winding, as well as capability for machine modifications based on prototype needsBuilding prototype cells, candidate must be able to understand all build processes and participate in cell buildsKeeping cell production equipment and its processes running while keeping high quality targets, candidate will be responsible for finding ways to keep cell equipment runningCell failure and root cause analysis, candidate must have a good understanding of cell quality in terms of finding the root cause for cell failures on the production lineConduct and report cell validation/abuse testing, candidate should be able to run test procedures to validate cells and or its components. Must hve experience with burst test, pull test, torque test, and CT scansAbility to setup new equipment or test setups with minimal supervisionEpectations, common knowledge of tools and how to use them safely, knowledge of air and gas lines and their associated hardware (fittings, tubing, and pressure ratings), as well as basic electrical knowledge for safety

4+ years of detailed hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of product design, procedures and practices of root cause analysis and typical issues and resolution pathwaysAbove average manual dexterity and visual acuity are required in order to perform delicate assembly and disassembly tasksAbility and passion to perform hands-on tasks such as cell openings and inspectionsDetail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills, excellent communication skillsStrong desire to learn and use advanced characterization and analysis techniques in cell quality work processesAbility to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, ability to lift and sort parts of up to 20 pounds as neededAbility to use technological tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret dataAbility to operate relevant personal computing hardware and standard software

Expected Compensation
$23.18 - $34.77/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
