Who we are looking for:
SLATE is looking for a technical, dynamic and experienced Design Quality Lead - Body In White (BIW) Systems to join our growing team. This position will be responsible for the
Design Quality of Body In White (BIW) systems, where effective engagement with engineering and manufacturing teams to deliver the highest quality levels with respect to product and process. The role must work closely with all internal and external partners to exceed customers' expectations.

What you get to do:
- Develop and implement strategy for product quality from the customer's perspective.
- Ensure the concept quality, usability and functional quality in our product provides safety and customer satisfaction.
- Facilitate development of FMEAs and ADVP&Rs to identify and run risk. Optimize testing and run testing outcomes (FRACAS).
- Be responsible for the definition of quality requirements, the quality maturity management and quality validation of functions and systems.
- Support the planning, execution and evaluation of product test drives within quality.
- Defining processes and technical standards in cooperation with development, product management and operations to ensure product quality.
- Develop and provide leadership to the technical teams and drive/support daily operations.
- Support and mentor team members, develop a culture of learning, and facilitate skill development to enhance the capabilities of the Technical Quality team.
- Collaborate with teams across the organization and with other departments to ensure robust designs and integration into manufacturing processe
What you bring to the team:
The role will be expected to have high integrity, curiosity, resourcefulness and strive to exhibit a positive and growth mindset. You will feel comfortable operating in a flexible and fast paced environment with a collaborative approach to achieving goals! You'll also bring:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (including: industrial/ mechanical/ vehicle, or related field)
- 5+ years of experience in automotive engineering/product quality
- Very good technical understanding and sound knowledge of product/vehicle development and production with focus on BIW systems.
- Strong GD&T and manufacturing knowledge. Able to interpret GD&T, assess feasibility for manufacturability and propose alternative solutions.
- Understanding of sheet metal stamping and materials including: sheet metal, thermoplastics and composites.
- Understanding of NHTSA's FMVSS requirements and CAE methods used to optimize designs for safety, NVH and durability.
- Proficient in the use of commonly applied quality tools and processes in the automotive industry (APQP)
- A successful history of delivering new program launches on time while achieving metrics.
- Very good product assessment skills, problem solving and root cause capabilities (Six Sigma, DFSS, Red X, etc)
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with a high level of assertiveness to meet teams goals.
- High level of integrity and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment.
