Strategic Planning Intern to support our Powertrain R&D corporate strategy efforts. This is a unique opportunity for a talented individual to gain real-world experience in strategic analysis, financial modeling, and business planning in the fast-paced EV sector.
Role Description
As a Intern, Strategic Planning, you will work closely with the Powertrain Strategic Planning team, as well as with partners across the enterprise (Enterprise Strategy, MFG, Supply Chian, etc.), contributing to a wide range of initiatives aimed at supporting the company’s long-term strategy, in the areas of industrialized footprint optimization, R&D resource planning, strategic business case preparation/ownership, executive business management dashboard creation, and so much more. The internship will provide exposure to industry research & analysis, modeling & forecasting, and core business management. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop hands-on experience in strategic planning and analysis within a world-leading EV Powertrain R&D organization.
Key Responsibilities
Market & Industry Research:
- Assist in conducting research on industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive positioning.
- Collect and synthesize data to provide insights into market opportunities and potential threats.
Data Analysis & Financial Modeling
- Support financial modeling efforts to evaluate business scenarios and project potential outcomes.
- Assist in gathering data for long-term business planning and profitability analysis.
Strategy Development
- Collaborate with team members on various strategic initiatives, providing input and recommendations based on research and data analysis.
- Help identify key industry trends that could influence the company’s future strategy.
Cross-Functional Support
- Work with other departments, including Finance, Operations, and Sales, to gather necessary information for analysis and strategy formulation.
- Provide support for strategy implementation efforts and monitor progress.
Reporting & Presentations
- Assist in preparing presentations for executive leadership meetings and strategy sessions.
- Contribute to creating reports on strategic project progress and key insights.
Project Assignment
During your internship, you will be assigned a capstone project focused on a specific strategic initiative, designed to provide hands-on experience and deliver measurable value to the company.
Deliverables
- A comprehensive report detailing your analysis and recommendations.
- A final presentation outlining your key findings and proposed strategy.
This project will allow you to demonstrate your strategic thinking, data analysis skills, and ability to collaborate across departments.
Education
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business, Finance, or a related STEM field.
- Strong academic record with meaningful extracurriculars in the realm of building and creating things
Skills & Experience
- Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of financial modeling and data analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with data analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.

Program Information
- Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.
- Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.
- Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be a mix of lab & office work.
- Compensation: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $40 to $60.
- Relocation: May be provided on a case to case basis.
- Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.
- Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.
- Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.
- Medical benefits: Dental, vision, and medical on day 1 for all interns working full-time.
- Visa Sponsorship: Lucid may but is not obligated to sponsor foreign national employees requiring company sponsorship for U.S employment authorization.
Compensation Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)
Base Pay Range (hourly)
$40—$60 USD
