What To Expect
Tesla is looking for a skilled and motivated individual to join the Policy Team to support electric vehicle charging policy, including regulatory interventions North America. The individual will collaborate with others on the Policy and Charging Infrastructure Teams to enable more sustainable and ubiquitous electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure access. A key component of this role will be to provide analytical, research and advocacy support for solving any regulatory barriers to scaling infrastructure deployment. This will include direct engagement on policies and proceedings related to utility planning, new service connection, weights and measures, and equipment standards and mandates. The Policy Analyst will work collaboratively with business, legal, and compliance teams to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. This position will be located in Palo Alto.
What You'll Do
Monitor and analyze regulatory requirements and proposed requirements for charging stations to determine potential impacts on charging infrastructure deployment, operations, and technology developmentParticipate in state level weights and measures and utility regulatory proceedings, including serving as an expert witness and developing comments and testimonyCollaborate with electric utilities, trade associations, and commissioners and staff on the development of electric vehicle programs and infrastructure initiatives that enable faster charging deploymentsEngage with a variety of external stakeholders and develop coalitions to drive advocacy for electric vehicle charging priorities Develop and lead proactive legislative and regulatory strategies to build new market opportunities Support research and analyses on emerging topics for scaling EV charging infrastructure deploymentRepresent Tesla with written and verbal comments at state agencies, in regulatory proceedings and at public hearings
What You'll Bring
Degree in a relevant field such as Political Science, Public Policy, or Economics or equivalent experienceAt least 4 years’ relevant work experience with energy markets and policy, electric utilities, or public policy Demonstrated track record influencing the electricity regulatory process including monitoring filings, drafting comments and testimony, and serving as an expert witnessAbility to work collaboratively across issue areas and teams to distil complex technical topics in energy and transportationExperience managing multiple policy issue areas and engaging a variety of stakeholders to drive advocacy priorities in electricity regulatory proceedingsExcellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complicated and technical policy points effectively to a wide range of individuals A results-driven self-starter with the ability and desire to travel, as well as an ability to function autonomously in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

Expected Compensation
$68,000 - $300,000/annual salary, depending on level + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
