The Manager – Business Operations plays a critical role in standing up the BizOps team by providing strategic insights and actionable planning to enhance business operations. This role will contribute to developing and implementing processes to improve efficiency and drive accountability across departments. This includes producing insightful dashboards, streamlining operations, and designing and implementing cross-functional initiatives.
This role will support the Sr. Director, Business Operations in providing the organizational and communication framework for customers, employees, and leadership team members to implement the CEO’s vision to achieve annual goals. They will partner with numerous teams within the company, including Finance, Business Development, Strategy, Legal, Technology, and Engineering, to identify areas of improvements and ensure executive decisions are implemented. The Manager – Business Operations will help organize and prioritize critical issues to facilitate efficient decision making and ensure daily operations of the company run smoothly.

This role is open to be 100% remote or a hybrid role out of one of our offices (Mountain View, CA, San Diego, CA or New York, NY.)
Responsibilities
40% - General Strategic Operations
- Offer strategic insights into areas of the organization that require operational improvements, through value stream mapping, interviews with stakeholders and benchmarking with competition.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency and drive growth and track success metrics of implemented strategies.
- Streamline operations at the intersection between departments (e.g., BD, Execution, AOCS, Product) and track success metrics, making improvements as necessary.
- Support company-wide performance visibility and improvement through goal and KPI tracking.
- Work with product and project team leadership to ensure continued alignment on strategy and timing of deliverables based on annual goals
40% - Specific Program Management of strategic transverse issues (“Hard Rock”)- Lead one or more Hard Rock initiative(s) in a program management function
- Design a given initiative based on thorny, strategic, cross-functional criteria, develop workplan and assign
- Manage the day-to-day of a given initiative, including workstream and key stakeholder management, Prioritization, SteerCo document preparation, KPI tracking, etc.
- Outline and track key metrics, hold individual workstream leaders accountable, adjust plans based on metrics, priorities, and circumstancesParticipate in managing the Hard Rock program of high-impact cross-functional initiatives, ensuring alignment with company goals
- Identify “hard rock” opportunities and prove out business case of the initiative
- Craft and execute change management plans for select cross-team programs (“Hard Rocks”)
- Assess participating initiatives and their scope, success, and budget on a quarterly basis to ensure alignment with Hard Rock criteria and propose additions/subtractions to the program as needed
20% - Company-wide Performance Visibility & Improvement- Partner with Sr. Director, Business Operations on creation of a Company Dashboard that tracks key metrics informing company performance
- Develop business intelligence tools and processes to support continuous improvement and scalable growth. This business intelligence should feed the Company Dashboard
- Set goals, drive analytics, and present updates and recommendations to leadership (CEO, CFO, etc.)
- Conduct research on operational benchmark to inform strategic improvements
- Enhance visibility in high-profile projects (e.g., Hard Rocks)
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent experience preferred
- 5+ years of experience in business operations, consulting, investment banking, or similar fields
- 5+ years of experience working in the renewable energy industry
- Proven experience in strategic projects and stakeholder alignment
- Proven ability to influence and drive results across teams without direct authority
- Entrepreneurial self-starter with a bias towards action who can thrive in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and a demonstrated ability to prioritize and remain flexible in high pressure dynamic situation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and high attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels
- High level of discretion and professionalism, with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
- Exceptional follow through and high level of accountability
- The ideal candidate is a self-starter with world-class strategic, analytical, and program management skills, as well as a demonstrated propensity for solving difficult problems, experience leading and growing teams, and a clear team-first mindset
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office (e.g., Excel, PPT, PowerBI), Salesforce, and other business analytics tools
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $123,075 - $150,425 annually. This position is eligible for PowerFlex's comprehensive Health and Welfare plans including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off. The total compensation for this position may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable). PowerFlex's compensation packages carefully consider a candidate's qualifications, experiences, and education in relation to the position.
Supervision of others
- Direct and supervise staff, including hiring, training, and performance reviews.
- Function effectively as an influential leader and strategic partner across teams.
Physical Requirements
Remaining in a seated position. Long hours on computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
Working Conditions
Approximately 90% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Adobe etc.), telephones, and general office equipment. Possibly 10% of the time is spent traveling to conferences or meetings or field traveling to project sites and vendor facilities.
