Role SummaryWe are looking for a talented and experienced Software Engineer with a focus on Front End development to join our team at Rivian. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the front end for the Petra AI project, building front ends from scratch, and streaming data from the back end to the front end. This position requires a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with designers and back-end developers. The candidate should have experience with Unreal Engine, Photoshop, and CSS. This position is based in Normal, IL
Responsibilities- Develop the front end for the Petra AI project, ensuring high performance and user-friendly interfaces.
- Build front ends from scratch for cycle time tracking for Rivian service centers, focusing on scalability and maintainability.
- Stream data from the back end to the front end, ensuring real-time data updates and seamless user experiences.
- Collaborate with designers and back-end developers to create cohesive and visually appealing user interfaces.
- Ensure the front end is responsive and performs well across different devices and screen sizes.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and contribute to the overall software development lifecycle.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in front-end development technologies and best practices.
- Mentor and guide junior front-end engineers, providing technical leadership and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in front-end development, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
- Extensive experience with Unreal Engine and Photoshop, with a strong understanding of design principles and user experience (UX) best practices.
- Proficiency in CSS and front-end development, including experience with modern front-end frameworks and libraries (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
- Ability to stream data from the back end to the front end, ensuring real-time updates and efficient data handling.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality, responsive user interfaces.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and agile development methodologies.
- Based in Normal, IL.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with other front-end technologies such as TypeScript, SASS, or LESS.
- Knowledge of back-end development and APIs, with the ability to collaborate effectively with back-end developers.
- Familiarity with web performance optimization techniques and tools.
- Experience with user testing and usability studies to gather feedback and improve user interfaces.
