Role SummaryThe Sr. Quality Engineer position at Rivian will support our Battery production through developing and maintaining control plans, leading containment for defects which escape control points, and leading problem solving activities for quality issues. This position will help us into the next generation of the Rivian Truck. Building out of what Rivian is moving to for the future! The opening is located at our Normal, IL facility and reports directly to the Production Quality Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities- Develop control plans to prevent defects from escaping the line.
- Improve product/process quality by defining/implementing recommendations for change.
- Work together with relevant teams and departments to improve products/process.
- Ensure products/process adhere to company and industry quality standards.
- Lead containment activities for defects which escape the line.
- Lead problem solving activities for Quality issues.
- Monitor and steer systematic problems through operations system (Rivian Concern System).
- Implement a working system to ensure conformity and accuracy in the production process.
Qualifications- Engineering, Quality, Business, or Technical Bachelor-Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Supplier Quality Systems Audits, Control Plans, PPM’s monthly tracking, PPAP.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- High proficiency in computer technology and systems operations.
- APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) experience.
- 8D or similar method problem solving experience.
- Manufacturing/assembly process experience.
- High proficiency with DFMEA, PFMEA, and control plans.
- Metrology equipment knowledge.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Statistical process control / control charts.
- Good electronic communication software skills (MS Office, Minitab, email, etc.).
- 6 Sigma greenbelt or blackbelt desired.
- Ability to perform all duties in a working environment that may contain dust, high noise levels, hot and cold weather.
