Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc (HATCI) is looking for an Interior Engineering Design Cockpit Manager at our Superior Township, MI facility.
Summary
Lead our diverse and growing Interior Engineering Design Team in development of upcoming vehicles and technologies related to Interior Cockpit components: Instrument Panel, Center Console, etc.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities, Including But Not Limited To
- Manage Interior Cockpit team and deliverables in support of overall program deliverables. Develop goals and objectives for all direct reports. Assign tasks and projects to support the related team’s work plan. Ensure all goals and key performance metrics are met for your team.
- Be a subject matter expert in relation to Automotive Interior Cockpit, especially for our focused efforts with Electrified Vehicles and Light Duty Trucks
- Ensure Vehicle Development process is followed from concept to post production, satisfying all customer requirements along the way. Conducting competitive benchmarking, detailed engineering cost/weight analysis, performing drawing release, executing engineering orders, meeting safety/regulatory targets, etc.
- Manage and direct Engineers in daily activities for work projects relating to team activities in support of our three brands: Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis
- Manage new technology development: Generate ideas and strategies with the goal of implementation to the production vehicle
- Support affiliate requests for Engineering studies and market research for North American customers.
- Review progress to work plan and quality of work. Provide technical direction and guidance. Accurately maintain and update project status reports and review with upper management routinely.
- Create and present bi-weekly team reports summarizing the activities of the past 2 weeks and detailing the planned activities of the upcoming weeks
- Create and present technical reports for presentation to upper Management, affiliates and others
- Interface and co-work with other teams within VE, HATCI and its affiliates - Project Management, Product Planning, Materials Development, Safety Integration, Regulation & Certification, Sales and Marketing, Manufacturing - provide support as required with testing, development, vehicle clinics, etc.
- Ensure administrative functions such as purchasing requests, timecard, vacation requests, travel requests, etc., are followed on a timely basis
- Perform additional projects as assigned
- Travel up to 20% of time domestically and internationally.

Education And Experience
- Bachelor in Engineering (minimum) with MBA or Master’s Degree Preferred
- 8+ years in automotive vehicle design and development with increasing levels of project and team management
- 2+ years mentoring/leading/managing other engineers
- Expert in Vehicle Design and Solving Development and Quality Issues (Warranty, IQS, Plant Issues, Field Issues)
- Significant experience and expertise in Automotive areas of Interior Cockpit
- Experience working and accepting culturally diverse team environment and willingness to learn new ways of interacting
- Valid Driver's License & satisfactory driving record
