Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Manufacturing Operations is responsible for maintaining a safe environment while managing and directing the manufacturing operation. This role will ensure that key organizational priorities within manufacturing operations are executed on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Lead manufacturing activities for new product development releases and production volumes to meet cost, schedule, and quality targets.
- Develop future capability for facilities, equipment, and workforce to ensure capacity meets business needs.
- Manage and communicate manufacturing activities within a collaborative cross-functional environment, communicating risk, and recovery activities when necessary.
- Champion lean manufacturing activities and continuous improvement projects such as cost reduction, efficiency improvement, headcount.
- Manage manufactory labor cost targets, departmental budgets, and plant expenditures to meet Operating Plan Objectives.
- Manage material control within the manufacturing processes through finish goods warehouse.
- Lead execution of production system, focus on problem-solving and people involvement. Drive internal, customer, and supplier quality issues.
- Develop tools and manage Inventory Control for all manufacturing equipment critical spare parts.
- Develop a tiered production workforce, leveraging the technical skills to support productional needs.
- Create and manage departmental KPI’s and coordinate plan to meet KPI’s. Present company KPI’s to the organization.
- Establish shop floor visual performance tier boards.
- Manage manufacturing scrap percentage to company targets.
- Champion manufacturing 5S activities by implementing a Visual Workplace environment within Production facilities.
- Support and implement environmental and quality management systems.
- Execute the build and ship plan.
- Drive safety first culture.
- Develop employees to improve their abilities and skills.
- Support company vision, values, goals, and business plan.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Adhere to federal and state regulations.
- Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive operations management experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment and facility management.
- Operations background with previous materials management experience preferred.
- Experience with starting up high-volume manufacturing facility preferred.
- Prior experience with motor vehicle programs (automotive, heavy truck). PHEV, BEV experience is preferred.
- Strong technical, communication, and computer skills.
- Working experience with Quality & Reliability disciplines (FMEA, DFA, DFM, DVP&R, Six-Sigma, APQP, 8D).
- Experience with ERP system, PLEX preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with TS 16949 and ISO 14001.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), SharePoint, and MS Project.
- Very strong leadership qualities and experience.
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage change and priorities and coordinate/realign project resources as necessary.
- Thorough knowledge of Theory of Constraints with demonstrated implementation.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety, environmental, and facility regulations.
