Job Purpose The Sr Paint and Surface Technician will report to a Manufacturing Supervisor and will be responsible for performing all aspects of Paint operations. The ideal candidate has a proven record of success in fast-paced environments. Candidate must be able to work with various teams including engineering, quality, and other associates on a variety of issues/corrective actions identified in production. Multi-Craft Paint Technician.
Responsibilities (80s Of The Position)
Multi-Craft Paint Technician at Canoo will work within a team in an assembly-line environment. Building and Painting state-of-the-art EV (Electric Vehicles) vehicles for the American automotive market.
- Perform Paint/Topcoat Application according to appropriate work instructions
- Use state of art Paint Equipment, precision equipment, and machinery.
- Inspect surfaces for paint defects and remove defects with standard sanding/polishing techniques
- Provide feedback on missing/incomplete documents or parts
- Follow verbal and written instructions for specialized equipment
- Inspect own work and report self-discovered defects/errors
- Possess an ability to Learn! Adapt to new technologies and processes.
- Ensure the Top-coated surface meets quality standards
- Collaborate closely with engineers and management to identify and correct issues
- Identify discrepancies both in writing and verbally to supervisor
- Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules and within standard times
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area according to specifications (tool maintenance, housekeeping) within individual workstation and on station tools
- Demonstrate an ability to perform standardized work process and defined work instructions
- Possess a “can do” attitude to evaluate processes and equipment to look for continuous improvement opportunities
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years relevant Automotive Paint application methods
- Knowledge of Solvent based paint materials and Water-based paint materials
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Ability to work with a team in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining high quality work
- Ability to read and understand manufacturing/machinery Job instructions
- Ability to perform repetitious duties, including walking long distances and standing for extended periods of time.
- Ability to wear and perform in all Safety and PPE equipment.
- Must be a team player with effective communication skills
- Must be reliable (on time, present and ready to work hard)
- Must have the ability to work quickly while maintaining an elevated level of quality and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Knowledge And Skills
- Basic hand/power tool familiarity
- Knowledge of Automotive Paint Products & Solvents
- Surface inspection techniques
- Surface correction techniques
- Must apply paint in a consistent quality fashion. “Replicate Robotic Pathing”.
Physical Requirements For Physical Positions
While performing the duties of this job, employees may be required to lift to 25 or more pounds, stand, sit, bend/stoop, reach or operate office equipment or machinery.
- Some of the tools used will be sanders, polish equipment, paint application equipment, sealer dispensing guns, skives, wrenches, pliers, measurement instruments
- Additional requirements will be use hands to start bolts, change tooling, smooth/brush sealer

The Multi-Craft Paint Technician is a safety sensitive position due to the nature of complex Paint work and work with machinery and tools.
