Tesla is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Technical Program Manager to join the Semi Drive Axle Manufacturing team and manage program execution alongside a team of world-class Engineers who are responsible for designing and manufacturing the drive units that propel each and every one of our industry leading vehicles.
The role requires a highly organized and detail orientated mindset along with a passion for launching new technologies with an unparalleled ability to bring people together as a single team with a single goal. Our designs, manufacturing processes, and program schedules push the limits of what is physically possible. You will coordinate collaboration between Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Production to ensure our team’s goals are aligned with company priorities. You will work to understand the opportunities, challenges, and dependencies of each project, translate scattered information into a concise and complete message, and communicate to every team member. You will remove roadblocks before they impact the program and aim to make our team efficient and effective.
What You'll Do
Manage the cross-functional team to ensure successful launches of new manufacturing lines in all Tesla locations. Collaborate with global teams to develop novel and complex automation equipmentAccountable for creating, maintaining & communicating schedules & plans for manufacturing projects including process development, process validation, line design, equipment fabrication, FAT, shipping, SAT, SOP, etc.Prepare roll-up information for senior leadershipCoordinate build milestones with Manufacturing Engineering, Construction, Facilities, and ProductionTrack equipment readiness & report effectively on status, blockers & changesTrack project costs & drive cost management improvementDevelop & maintain effective communication channels to all stakeholdersProvide technical leadership and project management skills to identify creative & timely solutions to key program challengesIdentify team priorities & motivate the project team to complete critical tasksDrive action with internal & cross-functional teams to complete projects within time & resource constraints
What You'll Bring
3 or more years of experience in a mix of engineering and project managementExperience in technical program or project management, ideally with multiple delivered projects of medium to large sized capital equipment systems ($1M-$25M+)Proven experience coordinating between technical and non-technical team members effectively, and across multiple time zonesExperience with project management tools (MS Project, JIRA, etc.)Experience leading a team in a complex construction, production, and/or manufacturing environmentFirst-hand experience as a Manufacturing EngineerBachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
