Description
Bollinger Motors is seeking a grounded, astute business strategist, and effective leader, to be the Vice President of Operations as part of the executive board and the organization’s team. The VP of Operations must nourish and promote a robust working environment. They will also widen the horizon of our reach both domestically and internationally. This pivotal role involves overseeing and managing operations teams across disciplines such as Supply Chain, Purchasing, I.T., and Manufacturing. This successful candidate will be responsible for driving excellence in product development, ensuring key milestones are achieved, and the timely delivery of our electric vehicles, while fostering a collaborative approach across the organization. This position reports directly to the COO and is an in-person role at the company’s Oak Park, MI headquarters.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a respectable, high-performing operations organization of high integrity and leadership by establishing an effective organizational matrix, personnel structure, and toolset for successful, timely, and budget-conscious vehicle delivery.
- Provide strategic direction for planning, developing, and implementing initiatives across Supply Chain, Purchasing, I.T., and Manufacturing.
- Drive cross-functional teams to ensure all requirements are met to the highest quality and ensure the best product is delivered to our customers.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing efficiency enhancements, meeting targets, and maintaining performance metrics. Reporting out metrics to cross functional management.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Engineering, Sales and Service, Human Resources, and Legal to successfully meet organizational objectives.
- Provide leadership support in negotiation and collaboration with external suppliers and 3rd party partners.
- Stay up to date on new technologies and assist the CPO with integration into the product development lifecycle.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a culture of knowledge transfer, open communication, and continuous improvement.
- Manage and allocate resources effectively, ensuring teams achieve milestones and operate within budgetary constraints, P&L responsibility for Operations.
- Uphold confidentiality and discretion with business and personal information.
- Establish and implement safety programs in line with company values and policies
- Establish a work environment conducive to maintaining good employee morale.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations and ensure that all managers do the same for their employees.
- Provide Senior Leadership with status updates and urgent issues.
Requirements
Education, Skills, and Knowledge

- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Operations, Business, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- 15+ years’ experience in the Automotive Industry, with strong experience in operations for a manufacturing-based company
- Demonstrated success in leading and scaling teams across disciplines such as Purchasing, Supply Chain, I.T., and Manufacturing.
- Resilient, self-driven, and able to build and lead resilient teams to achieve company objectives.
- Demonstrated high level of budget management skills.
- Strong business acumen with understanding of fundamental business principles.
- Knowledge of commercial vehicles a plus.
- Expertise in negotiation, commercial management, operational efficiency, supplier management, program management, and strategic planning.
- Advanced interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and build a consensus in a high-pressure environment.
- Familiarity with ERP Systems (PLEX Preferred)
- Ability to travel 20% or more.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet)
