We are investing in emerging technologies and innovating our businesses to advance progress in Range & Routing for commercial and retail customers, enhanced vehicle ownership experience, to provide additional trust in the range of Ford electric vehicles by learning a specific vehicle’s driving styles & external factors impact on range .
The Software Engineer is responsible for setting the technical direction and implementation strategy to deliver high quality features and products that support Ford Motor Company Connected Vehicle initiatives, work on Intelligent Range product within the Ford Electric Vehicle team. Intelligent Range enables calculating the most accurate and consistent Distance-to-Empty estimation possible for a vehicle to alleviate range anxiety and eliminate failures to reach charging locations.

In this position…
Lead the development of the Intelligent Range product, a key feature for Ford's EV customers. You will be a technical leader, driving the design, development, testing, and operation of systems that power this innovative product.
What You'll Do…
- Technical Leadership:
- Shape the technical direction of Intelligent Range, ensuring a seamless user experience across mobile app, in-vehicle HMI, and web platforms.
- Stay current on the latest technology and contribute to the technical direction of the company while keeping a customer-centric approach.
- Embodies a continuous improvement mentality for software craftsmanship and DevOps to become future anchors.
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Full Stack Expertise: Work across the entire technology stack, contributing to both front-end and back-end development.
- Third-Party Integration: Collaborate with external partners (HERE, Google, Accuweather, Garmin) and internal teams (GDI&A) to integrate their data and algorithms into the Intelligent Range system.
- Big Data Understanding: Leverage your knowledge of Big Data principles to handle the vast amounts of data involved in this product.
Qualifications
You'll Have…
- B.S. in Computer or Software Engineering or related degree; or foreign equivalency degree, or a combination of equivalent experience and education.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- 3+ years experience developing complex applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using Spring Boot, Java APIs, Python, Golong, and microservices.

- API/Microservices Optimization: Refactor and optimize code for efficiency and simplicity.
- Agile Methodologies: Actively participate in agile ceremonies, define technical features, and contribute to user stories.
- Clean Code Practices: Develop bug-free software adhering to best practices and coding standards.
- Pairing/Mobbing: Collaborate effectively with other developers through pair programming and mobbing techniques.
- Extreme Programming & Kanban: Embrace agile methodologies like Extreme Programming and Kanban to enhance workflow and productivity.
- Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement in software craftsmanship and DevOps practices.
