2nd Shift: 4X10 - Monday - Thursday: 5:00pm - 3:30am
Weekend Shift: 3X12 - Friday - Sunday: 5:30am - 6:00pm
Weekend Overnights: 3X12 - Friday - Sunday: 5:30pm - 6:00am
Position Summary
The Sr. Production Technician is an essential and versatile member of the Plug Power manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for the assembly and quality validation of Plug Power’s fuel cell technology. The senior technician is also accountable for helping to ensure the flow of production throughout the day, ensuring daily goals are achieved. Ideal candidates for this role possess a background in manufacturing of electro-mechanical assemblies along with a quality focus and strong attention to detail. The Sr. Production Technician role is also extremely safety focused and committed to working in a collaborative team environment to achieve manufacturing goals.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Machine Operator experience including high attention to detail to ensure the machine is running properly and quality product is being output
- Hand assembly of a variety of sub-systems and components utilized in manufacturing Plug Power’s fuel cell technology; assembly tasks are electro-mechanical in nature
- Ability to read, interpret and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and manufacturing assembly instructions
- Operation of manual hand tools and power tools as required in assembly and validation work
- Operation of material handling equipment, including manual and electric power jacks
- Light troubleshooting skills for machines to be able to identify when an issue exists and maintenance or a team lead needs to be engaged to escalate the concern
- Follow all environmental health and safety regulations in the course of work; compliance with all OSHA standards
- Maintain proper housekeeping to promote a safe and efficient workplace
- Must professionally communicate and collaborate with Cell Leaders and team members regarding production goals while also being able to influence needs for overtime and labor support when needs arise
- Responsible for communicating urgent production issues with the cell leader; ensuring colleagues leverage materials to correct these issues
- Communicate personnel issues up to the Cell Leaders as needed for their specified areas
- Ability to complete manufacturing documentation as required in the course of work
- Motivated to achieve hourly metrics to ensure demand met
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Computer skills including scanning bar codes, data entry, keying on a keyboard and navigating a mouse
- Light troubleshooting skills for Machine to be able to identify when an issue exists and maintenance or a team lead needs to be engaged to escalate the concern
- Good problem-solving skills

- Ability to stand and be mobile to ensure production demand can continue to be met
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational education/training is preferred
- At least 2 years of experience within a manufacturing assembly position; electro-mechanical assembly experience preferred
- 5S experience and training is highly preferred
- Dedication to quality
- High degree of manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
- Comfort operating hand/power tools safely and efficiently
- Ability to work overtime as assigned and commit to a flexible work schedule around manufacturing demand
- Ability to stand and/or and sit for long periods of time in performance of job functions
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds on regular basis unassisted
- Ability to operate a computer and perform computer skills including scanning bar codes, data entry, keying on a keyboard and navigating a mouse
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office software programs

Pay Rate:
$18.30 - $24.40
