Overview
Nikola is looking for an experienced Regional Sales Manager to sell Nikola’s zero emission Battery Electric and Fuel Cell Electric vehicles through our dealers. Someone with a proven track record of retail sales success in heavy duty and/or a commercial vehicle OEM Sales, including the prospecting of new customers. OEM district and regional managers and OEM national account managers with retail sales experience are encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for building relationships with customers and our dealer network, clean transportation, and managing complex sales transactions. Successful candidates will have a proven track record of targeting conquest accounts and developing complete solutions in order to win business. Ideally, you will be familiar with a typical start-up environment complimented by experience working within larger companies as it relates to process and planning. You’ll work to complete the entire sales transaction from top to bottom.
The Job And Its Requirements
You will be responsible for all sales related activities in your region while building and maintaining strong, long-lasting customer relationships with decision makers and influencers within customers organizations to assist them with transitioning to zero emission vehicles. This will include end-to-end accountability from customers’ testing of the vehicles through retail sale into their operation, as well as management of ongoing sales opportunities.
Responsibilities
You will:
- Identify potential customers in the target market and complete appropriate research on the prospective customer’s business and equipment needs
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers
- Negotiate grant application, terms, complete finance application, invoice, etc.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, energy and service teams to ensure product is delivered on time and on spec
- Become a subject matter expert on our trucks, chargers, hydrogen, as well as industry developments to ensure a match between product offering, customer expectations and grant source
- Provide strong customer service and analyze performance metrics to achieve customer and business objectives
- Identify, analyze, prioritize, and successfully resolve fleet customer problems giving a high priority to customer satisfaction
- Develop relationships and strategies to successfully achieve new sales
- Keeps up with current and possible future policies, practices, trends in the organization, with competition, and in the marketplace
- Develop and maintain contacts with the Nikola dealer network in your area and involve them in your direct sales efforts when possible.
Qualifications
You have:
- University degree in business, engineering or related field, plus 10+ years of demonstrated applicable sales experience
- Proven sales experience in fleet environment, preferable heavy duty or freight/delivery operation, and/or a commercial vehicle original equipment manufacturer (OEM)
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective, ethical working relationships with fleet customers
- Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written, including the ability to plan, organize and deliver professional formal presentations
- Strong financial acumen to understand key financial indicators and broad finance instruments including terms, types and usage as they pertain to customers’ financing of trucks
- Proven track record of excellent customer service skills and management capacity for large complex projects
- Experience in sustainability, alternative fuels and/or vehicles are assets
- Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to identify and develop new ideas and initiatives, able to turn ideas into practical working systems and procedures, creative and hands-on mentality
- Proven ability to work in a fast paced, highly matrixed and dynamic environment
- Ideal candidate will have and maintain valid CDL license
Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada.
