Our Mercedes-Benz Research and Development North America, Inc. Long Beach office is seeking a manager to lead the Electrics/Electronics “E/E” Integration and OTA Validation team. This role is responsible for people management while maintaining ownership of individual engineering functions on testing and defect management. The E/E Integration and OTA Validation team’s objective is to update, test, validate, and perform an integrated E/E and OTA release recommendation for the US market. Integrating the various system functions (Telematics, ADAS, Body, etc) and managing the most relevant defects towards improved vehicle maturity in the US market will be the focus of this position.

- Management and Leadership Responsibilities:
- Managing and leading a team of engineers which includes establishing a team vision, targets, deliverables and goals. In addition, the manager is responsible for leading the performance review process, individual development planning, team building and strategy. Forecasting budget, resource capacity, expansion of testing scopes, preparing and reporting to executive management on project issues, delays, risks with potential solutions and needed resources, as well as active participation in US OneVoice initiatives across US Mercedes-Benz entities.
- Individual Contributor Responsibilities (40% of the role work load approximately):
- Defect management across vehicle E/E domains from US test drives across multiple domains and neighboring teams. Follow most relevant high priority defects for US market and drive towards resolution as vehicle nears production ready release.
- Participate in E/E test drives, report defects, and highlight maturity reports to the research and development carline counterparts for actionable resolutions with system responsible departments. Roughly 1 test drive every 2 months.
- Plan and manage development activities in support of project plans/ budgets by placing work and part orders as necessary to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally (3-4 times per year).
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics Engineering
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Strong leadership behaviors' of engineering projects as well as exposure to people management
- Minimum 7 years of OEM vehicle development experience
- Strong engineering experience in E/E vehicle systems and testing methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills
- Excellent level Microsoft Office package (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Process improvement expertise & executive management presentation on budgets/resources
- Creativity and strong work ethic with proactive thinking & driving strategy
- Frequent use of speech, vision, hearing, use of hands for computer use and presentations
- Frequent sitting, standing, driving, and reaching with hands
- Valid California Driver's License

The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, job-related education, skills, and experience, geographic location, and market conditions. The current salary range for this position is as follows and may be modified in the future: $155,600 - $198,500.
