What To Expect
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer to contribute to the continuous improvement of Manufacturing Test Equipment for the Megafactory Production Engineering team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in designing, developing, and optimizing test equipment for Tesla’s Megapack lines. You will also be responsible for supporting electrical, software, and controls debugging tasks, as well as the continuous improvement of test and automation equipment. What You'll Do
Develop and enhance test equipment and software in both individual and team settingsDemonstrate proficiency in scripting in Python, Golang, or another high-level programming language (C, C++, C#, Java, etc.)Possess a good understanding of SQL databases and queries to efficiently manage and analyze test dataCollaborate with the production team to understand the production constraints related to testingWork closely with design teams to define optimized test specifications that balance yield and qualityAssist in the mechanical and electrical design of the test equipment itself, with a focus on HV power electronics and battery systemsSupport debug and validation efforts to ensure the sustained performance of the equipmentTake responsibility for fully documenting all aspects of the projects you work on, ensuring clear and comprehensive documentation
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering , or equivalent experience5 years of relevant industry experience in test equipment development and optimizationFamiliarity with LabView is beneficial but not as prevalent as Python and Golang in current projectsSolid understanding of communication protocols such as CAN, Modbus, and RS232Experience with HV power electronics and battery systems is highly desirableExperience in designing electrical hardware and software, with a particular emphasis on operator and product safetySolid understanding of production equipment design issues, including user-friendliness, serviceability, ruggedness, and noninvasive electrical test connectionsAbility to work well under pressure, managing competing demands and tight deadlines effectivelyWillingness to support 24/7 operations as needed

Expected Compensation
$72,000 - $270,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
