What You'll Do
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or the equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability 2-5 years of operational facilities experience (semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.) supporting high-tech infrastructure with a strong focus on Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) Experience with Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), including metering hardware, software platforms, real-time data acquisition, and power quality analysis Working knowledge of medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution systems, including substations, switchgear, protective relays, and ability to read electric utility system drawings (one-lines, three-lines, schematics, etc.) Familiarity with electric utility system safe work practices in accordance with OSHA, HAZMAT safety protocols, and applicable codes/standards (e.g., IEEE C37, C57); National Electrical Code, NFPA 70E, and IEEE 1584 Knowledge of NEC NFPA 70, NFPA 70B, NETA-ATS, NETA-MTS, IEEE 519 (power quality), and electrical OEM recommendations for monitoring and metering equipment

Design, implement, operate, improve, and troubleshoot facility Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), including metering infrastructure, data acquisition, dashboards, and integration with substations, switchgear, transformers, grounding systems, and protective relaysManage EPMS device network configuration across substations, panels, ATS, relays, UPS, breakers, and other assets—installing data cables, assigning IPs/MACs with proper gateways/subnets, and coordinating with internal teams for programming and communication validationConduct alarm rationalization, develop alarm cards, enhance Device Driver functionality, and perform Modbus/DNP3 mapping for EPMS devices and assetsLeverage EPMS data to support electrical distribution improvements and resiliency initiatives through system risk analysis, power quality metrics, harmonic analysis, trend monitoring, and advanced detection techniquesTroubleshoot electrical system issues using EPMS data for breaker coordination studies, arc flash assessments, protective relay performance verification, Sequence of Operations analysis, and SCADA integrationSupport critical sparing strategies and procurement of EPMS equipment, metering devices, and temporary monitoring solutions to ensure system reliability and uptimeUtilize CMMS for scheduling reactive and preventive maintenance of EPMS assets; help standardize electrical monitoring points and metering infrastructure across facilitiesCollaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to design, optimize, and maintain EPMS integration with electrical assets, enabling real-time visibility and data-driven decision-makingProvide engineering support and training to facility technicians on using EPMS tools for equipment troubleshooting, operation, and maintenance of controllers and systemsOversee EPMS equipment installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance to meet Tesla-specified performance, reliability, and safety standards; coordinate with stakeholders including Central Utilities, Supercharging, Megapack, Solar, Manufacturing, and IT for seamless data sharing and system optimization
