What To Expect
As the Senior EHS Specialist for Commercial Energy Business Development, reporting to the Director of Energy, Charging and Distribution, EHS, you will primarily support the Asia-Pacific (APAC) market while also supporting Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and partnering with your peers in North America. Collectively, the team will drive global harmonisation across Commercial Energy business development by building systems and tools to accelerate sales bids, reviewing contracts to minimise legal exposure to onerous requirements, supporting sales presentations to customers, strengthening strategic relationships, and advancing Tesla’s contractor management framework.
Working in cross-functional teams, you will contribute to proposals and strategies for new partnerships. The role requires strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills to navigate the sustainable energy sector. Success depends on independently leading initiatives while responding effectively to customers, managers, and the EHS organisation.
Based in Sydney, New South Wales, the position involves frequent regional travel and occasional international travel.
Remuneration range: $120k - $150k + equity.
What You'll Do
Collaborate with the business development team to understand APAC-focused growth strategies, customer needs, and associated risks, while actively contributing to proposals, presentations, and strategies for new partnerships across APAC, with secondary support to EMEA. Develop and maintain self-help resources for business development and project managers to enable consistent, effective responses to requests for proposals. Maintain deep knowledge of Tesla’s Commercial Energy products, services, and market positioning specific. Build and strengthen strategic relationships with APAC clients through clear, proactive communication. Provide targeted support for complex or one-off requests, including program modifications, information, and clarifications to meet specific customer requirements. Establish global EHS guidance for upstream and downstream contracts with an APAC lens to minimise scope gaps or creep and reduce exposure to onerous liabilities. Review contracts to confirm understanding and achievability of EHS requirements, prioritising regulatory alignment. Support the continual improvement of Tesla’s contractor management framework with focus on APAC operations.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in an EHS-related field or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years of progressive EHS experience, with strong preference for APAC-based roles. Experience in electric power generation, transmission, storage, or distribution, ideally within APAC markets. Strong knowledge of APAC EHS regulations and electrical safety standards (e.g., Australian WHS, AS/NZS), alongside global references such as OSHA, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and NEC. Solid understanding of EHS regulatory frameworks across APAC, with working knowledge of the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, and EMEA preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders across APAC cultures and time zones. Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving capability, and proven ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced, global environment.
