Position OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Diagnostic Developer who will be both strategic and hands on; able to lead in execution as well as develop strategy.
Developers are responsible for producing:
- step based diagnostic procedures
- tests and inspections
- engine/powertrain circuit diagrams for fault codes in our technician manuals using a combination of technical understanding of our products
This role supports new program launches as well as current products for our entire vehicle lineup which includes medium-duty, heavy duty, severe service, school bus, electric vehicles (EV) and diesel engines. Our diagnostic developers are currently an important key to achieving our mission in remote and autonomous diagnostics. All these activities are key building blocks to our company's vision of a vehicle that can diagnose itself. Diagnostic developers translate engineering information, repair strategies and other information sources into coherent and cohesive data points and consistent language and direction for our dealer and customer technicians.
Responsibilities- Develops diagnostic processes and procedures for specific products and acts as a diagnostic subject matter expert in support of other groups within the company
- Routinely conducts problem-solving and analysis on product related issues for improved product quality and warranty expense reduction
- Participates in the Engineering Design Review process and influences design decisions for improved diagnostics and serviceability in evolving product designs
- Reviews, and influences, current product changes for improved diagnostics
- Creates requirements for the development of diagnostic tools (electrical, electronic and mechanical) and validates changes to diagnostic tools and compatibility with product changes
- Provides technical support to field test fleet and support personnel who are diagnosing complex product electronic and mechanical systems
- Responds to situations where first-line product support requires a deeper investigation to isolate or fix problems in equipment or software
- Performs technical work requiring a considerable amount of creativity, perception and initiative
