Position OverviewNavistar is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer - Emerging Technology to join our team in Rochester Hills, Michigan.

The Senior Systems Engineer - Emerging Technology is a technical expert on their assigned feature and is responsible for the development of requirements, supplier and partner engagement, cascade to controls and software teams, verification of feature functionality, development of calibration “books” with the controls team, and responsible for resolving related issues during vehicle level development, validation, and production.
Responsibilities- Develop and cascade requirements in a requirements management tool
- Execute validation, system management, FMEA, and diagnostic requirements for the EPTO system in a BEV or FCEV
- The management of EPTO can include, but is not limited to:
- Control speed/torque of the EPT
- Computing EPTO regen/motoring power
- Integration of EPTO into vehicle for stationary/mobile operation modes
- Cascading requirements to the affected systems as thermal, energy, HV monitoring, moding, charging, etc.
- EPTO Operation limits at low SOCs
- Coordinate vehicle calibration parameters
- Ensuring all component requirements include EPTO management features
- Develop dynamic power limits and calibrations of parameters to optimize performance, range, drivability, and component durability
- Work with suppliers to “inhale” their functionality and develop, implement, and validate comprehensive state-flow-like requirements showing all controlled and simulated component’s loads and/or supply considering all driving, charging and “edge” use cases
- Work with controls and software teams on feature implementation, resolving requirement or implementation issues on an electrical buck or related test property
- Serve as the interface from the eMobility team to other Navistar interfaces and alliance partners to optimize implementation for Navistar-branded vehicles
- Compare ideal implementation to supply base solutions, develop trade-offs and implement optimized solution
Work with calibration and controls team to develop calibratable variables that can modify the behavior of the feature during vehicle developmental activities
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- At least 8 years of experience in product design/development
- At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

- Master’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- At least 6 years of experience in product design/development
- At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities
OR
- PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- At least 3 years of experience in product design/development
- At least 1 year leading others in engineer/design activities

Desired Skills- Experience working for or in a vehicle controls environment
- Demonstrated expert on vehicle level EPTO management and implementation
- Deep thinking hands-on contributor of technical solutions
- High natural curiosity that seeks and retains deep domain knowledge, system performance, and optimization across all vehicle functions and customer expectations
- Motivated problem solver with demonstrable examples of analyzing complex compromises at the vehicle level
- Deep experience with technical feature experts and peers and team environments
- Highly preferred experience with the following tools:
- CanAlyzer with demonstrable experience writing CAPL scripts
- INCA or equivalent controller calibration tool(s)
- Systems requirement tools such as Doors, Polarion, etc
- Simulink as an embedded coding solution for production electronic controller
- Should have at least 4 years of experience on production electric vehicle architectural concepts with an emphasis on the assigned feature
- Vehicle launch experience
