Position OverviewNavistar's Research & Development Team has an exciting opportunity for a Wire Harness Technician at our Advance Technology Center in Elmendorf, Texas. The Wire Harness Technician of Wire Harness Fabrication will report to the site Chief Engineer and support vehicle builds and validation activities of Navistar products, which include heavy trucks and school buses.
Responsibilities- Fabricating automotive electrical wire harness assemblies
- Vehicle installation of wire harnesses and overlays
- Vehicle trouble shooting and diagnostics. Root cause and correct issues found
- Work from schematics, diagrams, drawings, written and verbal descriptions
- Perform testing to check out and trouble shoot functions. Assist engineering with instrumenting test articles, test setup, and test breakdown for validation activities
- Uses manufacturing, test, development, or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus
- Perform operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Troubleshooting, diagnosing, performing preventative maintenance, and repairing of test equipment
- General labor around facility & other tasks as assigned
Minimum RequirementsOR
- At least 1 year of experience supporting engineering activities and/or automotive or diesel mechanic experience
Additional Requirements- Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
Desired Skills- Fabricating prototype automotive wire harnesses assemblies including soldering and crimping
- Vehicle electrical system trouble shooting and diagnostics
- Collecting data using a Canalyzer and/or similar devices
- Familiar with oscilloscopes and digital voltage ohmmeters
- Able to read automotive vehicle and component electrical schematics
- Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings, specifications, diagrams, and instructions
- Experience with electric vehicles and high voltage cables manufacturing
- Career experience in the heavy truck/automotive industry
- Basic MS Office knowledge
- Available and willing to work 2nd shift if needed
