In this position...
We are seeking motivated professionals with a desire to lead a team of engineers that deliver propulsion controls systems to Ford’s exciting portfolio of electrified and ICE vehicles.
The ideal candidate will have experience working on programs from initial study (Pre PS) through production launch, an understanding of electrified & ICE powertrain function, as well as SW application and electrified integration work.
This position aligns with the Ford OS Behaviors of Excellence, Focus and Collaboration. As a propulsion controls supervisor, you have the opportunity to communicate with management within Model-e and New Model Launch and lead cross functional teams to provide propulsion controls SW that meet feature and functional requirements.
What you'll do...
Lead engineering team on controls integration and program management for the development and delivery of the Propulsion Control System hardware and software.
Lead Calibration/Software release delivery to production and service.
Lead Controls Assumptions Database Cascade and updates
Lead GTPS program timing updates and block timing delivery
Lead milestone report out reviews for program specific control systems including open issues and resolution workplans at each milestone.
Ensure communications between Program Management and propulsion ECUs software developers and calibrators so SW and HW support all required vehicle functions at TPV, DCV, and launch.
Lead issue resolution, track metrics/deliverables, and report out to management at relevant milestones.
Ensure proper development and application of SW validation test methods, tools and process to ensure system functionality and robustness for electrified vehicles.
Lead delivery and sign off the Calibration Complexity Matrix
Lead controls commissioning and signoff of HV BB and DCV vehicles.
Lead HLF Subsystem test planning, testing, DVP&R and FEDE signoff.
Manage internal and external escalation of project control issues not resolved at GSR level using 8Ds, Jiras, and AIMS as needed.
Lead PrePS team on development of the propulsion controls assumptions and costs to allow for accuracy before handoff to application team and project controls prior to PS milestone.
Lead special projects as requested and report status to management teams.
Maintain Calibration Complexity Matrix website and training materials.
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
2+ years of experience within the propulsion controls arena
2+ years of experience with Project Management.

Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
5+ years of experience within the propulsion controls area
5+ years of experience with Project Management skills.
Effective communication: clear and concise spoken and written communication skills are critical for this position since the Supervisor is responsible for reporting and driving closure of Propulsion Controls detected issues, escalations, and reviews of critical items in management forums such as EMM / BPR / Hard Rocks / NML / Directors, etc.
Interpersonal skills (Networking, negotiation, and tolerance): Required to work with cross functional teams, Cross-regional, internal, and external (suppliers) and drive issues closure.
Ability to manage urgent situations and manage priorities. Critical task force leadership outside the normal workstreams.
Tolerance to ambiguity and dealing with complex engineering problems.
Working knowledge of GPDS deliverables and Global Integrator
Experience with SW design, integration, test and validation.
Experience with Ford engineering tools (AIMS / 8Ds / Fishbone/ 5 Why's/ eFDVS / Engineering Sign-Off / DFMEA / Six Sigma / WORQ / JIRA / FEDE (Teamcenter))
Comprehensive experience in development and execution of functional test procedures within a software or vehicle testing organization.
Experience in managing teams performing BB and vehicle testing of propulsion controls and commissioning, test execution, measuring and instrumentation, incident reporting and root cause analysis.
Experience developing and implementing process improvements.
Working knowledge of basic combustion engine operating principles.
Working knowledge of electrified vehicle configuration and controls.
Familiarity with powertrain controls calibration development processes and tools
Highly motivated self-starter with proven leadership skills.
