EV Connect is seeking a Senior Data Engineer with 7+ years of experience who shares our passion for electric vehicles and their ability to positively impact transportation, air quality, and energy independence for generations to come.
Collaborate with a talented team to advance EV Connect’s data platform by implementing and optimizing data pipelines, developing scalable solutions, and ensuring the availability and reliability of data services. This role will contribute to building a modern data ecosystem that powers critical business decisions and analytics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement, optimize, and maintain data ingestion pipelines for both batch and streaming data processing using AWS tools such as Kinesis, Glue, and Lambda.
- Build and manage a scalable data lake and data warehouse using AWS S3, Redshift, and related tools.
- Develop robust ETL/ELT pipelines for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure advanced analytics, machine learning, and BI reporting requirements are met efficiently.
- Ensure data quality, governance, and security across all data assets by establishing automated processes for validation and monitoring.
- Monitor and optimize data workflows for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Implement near real-time data processing workflows leveraging Apache Spark on EMR or similar tools.
- Support integration with third-party tools and APIs for data visualization, analytics, and reporting.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to data pipelines and infrastructure, ensuring uptime and system performance.
- Document processes, architecture, and workflows to support team collaboration and operational transparency.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields.
- Expert knowledge of AWS Cloud, including S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, Kinesis, and Athena.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing data lake and data warehouse solutions.
- Advanced SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB).
- Strong skills in ETL/ELT pipelines and data processing tools such as Apache Airflow, dbt, or AWS Glue.
- Experience in integrating and optimizing BI tools like Domo for advanced reporting.
- Message Bus technologies like Kafka, SQS, and SNS, with experience building highly scalable solutions.
- Hands-on experience with big data processing tools such as Apache Spark or EMR.
- Programming proficiency in Python or Scala for data transformations and automation.
- Familiarity with data governance and security best practices, including encryption and compliance requirements.
- Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering, managing data infrastructure, and developing data solutions.
- Familiarity with data mesh architectures for decentralized teams.
- You value monitoring, logging, and auditing to track the health and performance of data systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills with a passion for problem-solving.
- Excellent communication skills, including technical and process documentation.
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools like Git, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions.
- AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Data Analytics Specialty.
- Proven ability to implement scalable solutions with clear SLOs and SLAs.
- You have experience in event-driven architectures and streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis).
- You have a passion for renewable energy and the EV industry.
- Experience with generative AI tools for optimizing data workflows.
